I had, just recently after some time thinking on my idea, started a group on FB called “Plein Air Freedom Painters in New Zealand”. There are a few small groups around the country, hard to find but out there, and another group here in Auckland where I live but I saw a gap, a need to promote the wonderful freedom of Plein Air Painting, to be able to go where you want, when you want without too much controlled orgainsation (except for large events which I hope to encourage in the future) without rules and restrictions too. I wanted a place where people could list their outings and invite others if they so wished, or for others if traveling around the country and for International visitors a place to post a message “I am going to be in your area from… too.. and would love to have some painting buddies”. A place to share our favorite painting places etc.
I was about to email you Eric, and Steve Doherty to see if you could give me any advice or suggestions on this and as I was about to do so, there was the announcement of Plein Air Force! Couldnt have been more timely!
Two of our members are well respected artists and teachers and next weekend 14 to 16th May they have arranged a workshop for Plien Air painting. I want to, through the Freedom Painters group, and personally take the message out there to others as you suggest here.
Thank you for all you have done to help us with this venture, with all the tools available and we look forward to making this venture a great success.
Very best wishes for all you do at Plien Air Magazine – I have been an avid subscriber for quite some time.
